HPE and KDDI Collaborate to Launch AI Data Center in Osaka

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and KDDI Corporation have announced a collaboration to establish the Osaka Sakai Data Center by early 2026.
This new facility will provide high-performance AI infrastructure to assist startups and enterprises in developing artificial intelligence (AI) applications, with a focus on training large language models (LLMs). The center will deploy NVIDIA's advanced GB200 NVL72 platform built by HPE, powered by the latest NVIDIA Blackwell architecture.
Hybrid Cooling Technology for Sustainable AI Operations
A standout feature of the Osaka Sakai Data Center will be its use of hybrid cooling technology, combining air cooling and direct liquid cooling.
This setup will help minimize the facility’s environmental impact, making it a sustainable option for powering AI-driven solutions. This technology will ensure efficient energy consumption while maintaining the high-performance capabilities required for developing generative AI models and conducting low-latency inference tasks.
Enhanced AI Computing Capabilities
The center will support AI businesses and researchers in Japan and globally by providing access to advanced infrastructure designed for AI workloads. Through its partnership with KDDI, HPE will facilitate the deployment of a rack-scale system featuring NVIDIA accelerated computing, networking, and software.
This system is optimized for energy efficiency and performance, designed to meet the demands of large-scale AI clusters. The high-performance system will be equipped with NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand, NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet, and NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPUs, ensuring robust network connectivity for AI operations.
