Accenture Trains 500,000 Employees in Generative AI to Meet $2.6B Demand

Accenture is making a major investment in its workforce, training half a million employees to leverage the power of generative artificial intelligence (AI). The consulting giant is preparing for the growing wave of demand in AI consulting, which has rapidly become a cornerstone of its services. The company's ambitious training initiative aims to equip its consultants with the skills needed to meet the increasing demand for AI-powered solutions.
Generative AI Sales Surge to $2.6 Billion
Sales generated from generative AI solutions have surged dramatically, reaching $2.6 billion in just the last six months, up from a modest $300 million in the same period following the debut of ChatGPT in 2022. Chief Executive Officer Julie Sweet highlighted this rapid growth in a recent interview with Bloomberg Television, emphasizing that this increase reflects Accenture's commitment to integrating AI into its offerings. "We’ve really focused on rotating all of our offerings, rotating how we deliver for our clients, and of course, using it to operate ourselves,” Sweet explained.

AI's Role in Shaping the Future of Consulting
Accenture's deepening use of generative AI has transformed how its consultant’s work. The technology has eliminated repetitive tasks, such as compiling presentations, which were previously assigned to junior staff. This shift allows employees to focus on more strategic aspects of their roles, including shadowing senior leaders and mentoring young consultants. Sweet noted that, particularly in the UK, two-thirds of Accenture's staff have now been trained to use generative AI, underscoring the firm's commitment to staying at the forefront of technological innovation in the consulting industry.
