These advancements, including the Wellspring generative AI mapping system, an AI-powered demand forecasting model, and new agentic AI capabilities for robotics, demonstrate Amazon's ongoing commitment to leveraging cutting-edge artificial intelligence to solve real-world challenges in logistics and supply chain management.
Generative AI Mapping: Wellspring
Wellspring is a generative AI-powered system designed to improve delivery accuracy, particularly in complex environments like multi-building apartment complexes and newly developed neighborhoods.
By combining data from satellite imagery, road networks, building footprints, and past delivery data, Wellspring creates precise and comprehensive delivery solutions for millions of locations. The technology identifies specific apartment numbers, parking spots, and convenient delivery routes, ensuring drivers can navigate challenging environments more effectively.
The results have been significant, since testing the system in the US in October 2024, Wellspring has mapped over 2.8 million apartment addresses to their corresponding buildings across more than 14,000 complexes, while also identifying accessible parking at 4 million addresses.
This technology dramatically reduces the time needed to understand the physical landscape, making delivery operations more efficient and helping drivers ensure packages are delivered exactly where customers expect.

AI-Powered Demand Forecasting for Enhanced Supply Chain Efficiency
Amazon’s new AI-powered forecasting model improves supply chain efficiency by predicting product demand with greater accuracy using factors like weather and holidays. It has boosted national forecast accuracy by 10% and regional forecasts by 20%, enabling faster deliveries, lower emissions, and more efficient operations across the US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.
Amazon Robotics has developed an AI framework using Vision Language Models that lets robots understand natural language commands. This allows operators to give spoken instructions, making robots like Proteus more versatile. The tech aims to boost safety, speed, and efficiency in fulfillment centers.
