Chhattisgarh to Build India’s First AI-Based Data Center Park

In a historic move set to revolutionize India’s digital landscape, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched the foundation stone of the nation's first Artificial Intelligence-based Data Center Park in Sector-22 of Nava Raipur, as reported by the Economic Times. The landmark project is a major step towards India becoming a global digital infrastructure leader.
A Hub for Innovation and Growth
Stretching over 13.5 acres, the Data Center Park will be one of the prime drivers of India's vision to emerge as a technology powerhouse. The park will have a 2.7-hectare site developed as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), which will be managed by RackBank Datacenters Private Limited.
This data center will be dedicated exclusively to AI-enabled services and will offer cutting-edge infrastructure for high-end computing, data analytics, and beyond. The initial phase of the park will commence with a capacity of 5 megawatts and will be planned to be expanded to 150 megawatts in subsequent phases.
A further investment of about Rs 2000 crore will follow, and this will rank as one of the most ambitious technology infrastructure developments in the country. The centre will also make environmental sustainability its focus, implementing green and energy-efficient technologies that will minimize the ecological footprint.
Transforming Multiple Sectors
The park is not just a hub for data storage but will provide cutting-edge services in key sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, health-tech, defense, fintech, and data analytics. It will feature GPU-based high-performance computing infrastructure, AI processing, live data streaming, and advanced recording facilities, all designed to meet global standards.
Chief Minister Sai emphasized the importance of this project for Chhattisgarh, stating, "This is not just a data center; it's the digital backbone for a new era of grow h and empowerment.”
He went on to express confidence that this initiative will make the state a leader in the technology sector and provide transformative benefits for Chhattisgarh’s youth, farmers, and tribal communities.

Job Creation and Local Empowerment
The Data Center Park is expected to generate approximately 500 direct and 1,500 indirect employment opportunities, with a strong emphasis on hiring local talent.
This initiative will help foster a skilled workforce in technology, IT, and data analytics without requiring young people from Chhattisgarh to migrate to cities like Delhi or Mumbai for career opportunities. The project also aims to reduce the migration of youth from rural and tribal areas, creating local pathways to career success.
Impact on Agriculture and Education
According to Economic Times, AI technology will play a key role in boosting agriculture and improving rural livelihoods in India through smart farming and better access to services. A new data center will enhance digital infrastructure, aiding education, healthcare, and government service delivery, especially in remote areas, and support Chhattisgarh's digital self-reliance.
