Chilean Avocado Industry Embraces AI with New AgTech Pilot
Miido's AI assistant brings real-time smart farming to Chile’s avocado industry, transforming sustainability and field operations via WhatsApp integration.

An innovative pilot project has been launched by Chilean Avocado committee, partnering with a agri-tech startup named Miido to revolutionize agricultural management using artificial intelligence (AI). The project aims to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and real-time decision-making in avocado production.

Smart Farming via WhatsApp

Using WhatsApp, the Miido AI-powered digital assistant has direct communication with farm workers. Field teams can use the system to send texts and audio messages. In addition, the performance is assessed after the data has been transformed into useful information. Furthermore, this makes it possible to track the field operations in real time, which gives managers the ability to base their decisions on up-to-date information.

Miido CEO Nicolás Castellón said, “Miido acts as a digital assistant that converses directly with field teams, collecting key information simply and effectively. It also integrates with the company’s databases to operate as a 24/7 analyst.”

A Broader Vision for Sustainability

With the help of the AI tool, practices that promote sustainability are promoted, as it minimizes waste, reduces guesswork, and improves resource allocation. As the concerns related to water use and labor efficiency grew, the study helped a step forward in the digital transformation of agriculture in Chile.

The use of technology is being promoted in countries situated in Latin America, which includes Mexico, Colombia, and even Costa Rica. A common thing with most of these places is that Miido is working with the major agricultural firms, thus gaining credibility. The committee views this as a chance to make Chile a global leader in avocado production.

Commitment to Innovation

Innovation is one of the aims of the project and the company is going in accordance with the same goal. The committee stated, “We especially thank Miido for its commitment and interest in developing this initiative together with our association. We also extend our recognition to our members, whose active collaboration and innovative spirit enable the Chilean avocado sector to continue progressing and consolidating itself as one of the world’s leading producers.”

Chile’s agricultural sector would be enriched with the wider adoption of digital tools if the AI pilot proves successful. With the new user interface and capabilities, a new chapter in sustainability can be written when it comes intelligent farming in Chile.
