E.ON Next Partners with Kraken to Launch ResidentialFlex Platform for Smart Energy Solutions

E.ON Next, a leader in clean energy solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Kraken in the UK to introduce the ResidentialFlex platform, an advanced flexible demand management system designed to help consumers optimize energy use and reduce their energy bills.
The platform, which leverages smart meters and AI-driven energy solutions, marks a significant step toward making energy more affordable for consumers and facilitating the UK's transition to a low-carbon future.
Smart Energy Solutions for the Future
The ResidentialFlex platform will initially focus on electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, aiming to offer customers lower energy costs by shifting energy consumption to times when it is most cost-effective. The platform will be available for existing E.ON Next customers initially, with plans to expand to new customers later this year.
Chris Norbury, CEO of E.ON UK, said, “Clean energy isn’t a dream for the future; it’s something we can capture now through innovative solutions and technologies that give customers better control of their energy, make bills more affordable, and build a platform for growth.”
He added, “The introduction of the Residential Flex platform for E.ON Next customers shows that we are leading the way in delivering clean, low-cost energy solutions without compromise. By leveraging AI to optimise energy consumption, we are helping our customers save on their energy bills while driving the UK’s transition to a net-zero future.”
AI-Powered Energy Optimization
The ResidentialFlex platform is powered by Kraken’s technology, which uses AI to optimize and automate the usage of low-carbon technologies such as EVs, heat pumps, home batteries, solar panels, and smart thermostats.
Kraken’s AI technology continuously monitors the grid and shifts energy consumption to the most cost-effective times, ensuring that homes and vehicles respond intelligently to real-time grid conditions and pricing.
Serving Millions of Customers
The ResidentialFlex platform will be made available to over 5 million E.ON Next customers who already have smart meters, with plans to expand its reach as the platform scales. Since the successful migration of E.ON Next onto Kraken’s CRM and billing platform in 2020, E.ON has significantly improved customer relations, reflected in a Trustpilot score of 4.5. This migration also helped E.ON move from a £200 million loss to a £100 million operating profit in the first year.

A Step Toward a Net-Zero Future
The new partnership is part of a broader effort to accelerate the UK's energy transition. E.ON Next and Kraken were also founding members of the Mercury Consortium, a public-private initiative aimed at creating a common framework for integrating low-carbon technologies into the grid.
With the ResidentialFlex platform, E.ON Next and Kraken are demonstrating their commitment to building a smarter, more sustainable energy system that benefits both consumers and the planet.
