Foxconn Launches AI Model FoxBrain

Taiwan's leading contract manufacturer, Foxconn, has ventured into the artificial intelligence (AI) space with the development of its own large language model, FoxBrain. Foxconn developed the AI model initially to improve its business capabilities and optimize its processes.
FoxBrain's Capabilities and Training Process
As per a report by The Wall Street Journal, FoxBrain can perform a variety of tasks, ranging from data analysis to mathematical calculations, logical reasoning, and even code generation. These capabilities make the model a prized possession for Foxconn, as it enhances its internal processes and speeds up decision-making. Foxconn's ability to employ AI for these functions could help a great deal in increasing efficiency, reducing expenses, and also making workflows smoother in its vast chain of operations.
Foxconn Collaborates with Nvidia for Training
For four weeks, the company worked with Nvidia to train FoxBrain on 120 Nvidia H100 graphics processing units (GPUs). Nvidia, a key collaborator in the endeavor, assisted Foxconn with access to its supercomputing facilities and offered technical advisory to facilitate the successful training of the model.
Plans to Open-Source FoxBrain for Industry Use
Although FoxBrain was originally developed for Foxconn's internal application, the firm is considering making the model available to its industry partners by open-sourcing it. Additionally, Foxconn wants to stimulate innovation in the manufacturing and supply chain industries through this action.
