France Launches Europe’s Largest AI and Energy-Efficient Campus

At the Choose France summit in Versailles, a landmark partnership was announced, aimed at establishing Europe’s largest AI Campus in the Paris region, as reported by Bloomberg
The initiative is the result of a collaboration between Bpifrance, the French national investment bank, MGX, the UAE investment fund focused on AI and advanced technology, Mistral AI, a leader in generative AI, and NVIDIA, the global leader in AI computing infrastructure.
The AI Campus, set to reach a capacity of 1.4 GW, will be one of the most advanced AI hubs in the world, supporting the full AI lifecycle, from model training and inference to deployment of generative and applied AI systems.
The campus will integrate seamlessly with France’s research and innovation ecosystems, driving advances across sectors like healthcare, mobility, energy, finance, and manufacturing.
Strategic Location for Digital and Climate Sovereignty
Located in the heart of Europe’s leading economic zone, this AI campus will not only serve as an AI powerhouse but also help to promote digital sovereignty and climate resilience in Europe. It will feature exascale-class computing, sovereign cloud integration, and low-carbon hyperscale data centers optimized for AI.
The initiative also aligns with France’s ambition to position itself as a global AI leader while enhancing Europe’s digital sovereignty. By combining cutting-edge AI technology with environmentally sustainable practices, the AI Campus is set to fuel Europe’s next wave of AI-driven innovation.
Key Partnerships and Contributions
The AI Campus launch, attended by leaders like Eric Lombard and Khaldoon Al Mubarak, is backed by key public-private partners. Bouygues will handle construction, EDF ensures sustainable energy, École Polytechnique supports research with MBZUAI, RTE manages energy connections, and Sipartech provides high-speed fiber connectivity.
