Google Classroom Expands Gemini AI Tools with New Question Generation Feature

Google is continuing to enhance its AI-powered support for teachers with the latest update to Google Classroom. The company has announced a new text-dependent question generation tool designed to help educators create tailored assessments quickly and efficiently.
Smarter Assessment Creation with AI
With the new feature, teachers can now upload a file from Google Drive or manually input a passage of text. They can then choose specific comprehension or critical thinking skills they’d like students to demonstrate. Using this input, Gemini will generate grade-appropriate questions aligned with the selected criteria. These questions can be exported directly into Google Forms or Google Docs for immediate use in classrooms which is perfect for quizzes, exit tickets, or comprehension checks.
Building on Earlier AI Enhancements
This tool builds on Gemini's earlier integration into Google Classroom, which began in 2024. Previous features allowed teachers to generate vocabulary lists, lesson plan ideas, and summaries of class materials or feedback. With the addition of question generation, Gemini aims to further reduce administrative workload while enriching student learning experiences.

This new update provides a useful solution for day-to-day teaching requirements that is especially effective for teachers who have to handle multicultural classes or busy schedules.
The new feature is now live to Google Classroom users and is one of the wider efforts by Google to integrate AI into education platforms.
