Google Cloud partners with Manipal Hospitals to enhance healthcare in India with AI-driven solutions, improving patient care, medication access, and nurse handoffs.

Google Cloud has announced a major partnership with Manipal Hospitals, one of India’s largest healthcare providers, to modernize patient care and pharmacy services using advanced AI solutions. This collaboration aims to tackle critical challenges in India’s healthcare landscape, where timely medication access and efficient case management are essential for the country’s 1.4 billion citizens.

This collaboration seeks to address key challenges in India’s healthcare system, focusing on timely medication access and efficient case management for its 1.4 billion citizens. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted gaps in traditional healthcare, particularly in pharmacy operations, prompting Manipal Hospitals to innovate and enhance patient experiences.

AI-Driven Innovation for Better Patient Outcomes

Through this partnership, Manipal Hospitals is pioneering generative AI to enhance vital processes such as nurse handoffs, which are typically time-consuming and prone to errors. The AI-powered solution automatically generates detailed handover reports, summarizing critical patient data, medication updates, test results, and treatment responses, dramatically cutting down the time required for handovers.

Karthik Rajagopal, Group Chief Operating Officer at Manipal Hospitals, said, “Partnering with Google Cloud will enable Manipal Hospitals to embrace innovation in healthcare. We expect to see improvements in patient care through data-driven insights and AI-powered solutions, while also streamlining operations and gaining a significant competitive advantage,”

Implementation partner Deloitte played a key role in bringing this vision to life, integrating Google Cloud’s technologies seamlessly into Manipal Hospitals’ operations.

Transforming Medication Access with ePharmacy

The new ePharmacy app, powered by Google Cloud’s Vertex AI and Gemini 1.5, allows patients to quickly access prescriptions and arrange medication pickup or delivery, reducing order times from 15 minutes to under five. Technologies like Cloud Healthcare API, Apigee API Management, and Looker enhance data flow and user experience, while Google Kubernetes Engine ensures the app scales to meet growing demand.
