Google to Replace Google Assistant with Gemini Later This Year
Google announces the transition from Google Assistant to its AI-powered platform, Gemini, promising an advanced, personalized experience across mobile, tablet, and smart devices by 2025.

Google has announced that Google Assistant will be replaced by its AI-powered platform, Gemini, later this year. The transition will begin with mobile users, who will see their devices upgraded to Gemini in the coming months. By the end of 2025, Google Assistant will no longer be accessible on most mobile devices, and it will also be removed from mobile app stores.

Gemini will provide a more advanced, customized, and AI-driven experience, marking the next generation in Google's assistant technology. Since its release in 2016, Google Assistant has been using natural language processing and voice recognition to assist and aid users. With Google's progress toward generating AI, it is now progressing toward Gemini, which will revolutionize how users interact with their device.

Wider Integration Across Devices

Google’s transition to Gemini will extend beyond mobile phones. The company plans to upgrade tablets, cars, and other devices, such as headphones and watches, to the new AI platform. Additionally, Gemini will power Google’s home devices like speakers, displays, and TVs, providing users with a seamless, AI-enhanced experience across various platforms.

Gemini’s Expanded Capabilities

Since its release, Gemini has grown immensely, and it is now translated into over 40 languages and over 200 countries. Although it maintains basic features such as playing music, setting alarms, and taking action from the lock screen, Gemini adds so much more. New features such as Gemini Live allow users to engage in free-flowing, multimodal conversations, while Deep Research turns Gemini into a personalized research assistant, offering support for more complex inquiries and tasks.
