Google Unveils Gemini 2.5

Google has unveiled its latest breakthrough in artificial intelligence—Gemini 2.5, a new family of AI reasoning models designed to significantly enhance the thinking capabilities of AI systems.
This latest version builds on previous advancements and introduces chain-of-thought prompting to improve the model's reasoning abilities further. The first model in this new series, Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental, is now available on Google AI Studio and will also be accessible to Gemini Advanced users on the Gemini AI chat interface.
A New Level of AI Reasoning
According to Koray Kavukcuoglu, CTO at Google DeepMind, Gemini 2.5 marks a significant milestone in AI development. The model combines a stronger base model with improved post-training, taking performance to a whole new level. This new model builds upon previous innovations, including the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking model, further enhancing the AI’s reasoning capabilities. With the integration of reinforcement learning and advanced chain-of-thought prompting, Gemini 2.5 has been optimized for smarter decision-making and more accurate results.
Multimodal Capabilities for Enhanced Performance
One of the standout features of Gemini 2.5 Pro is its multimodal nature. This means it can process various types of data, including text, audio, images, videos, and even code repositories. This makes it versatile and suitable for a range of industries. Additionally, the model has a 1 million token context window, one of the largest available in experimental AI models. Google plans to further expand this capacity to 2 million tokens soon, enabling even greater processing power.
Google claims that Gemini 2.5 Pro outperforms other leading AI models across several benchmarks, including code editing, software development, and multimodal tests. These tests include topics from math, humanities, and natural sciences, showcasing the model’s ability to handle complex queries across various domains.
