Policy Framework and Ethical Considerations
The AI policy that would be drafted emphasizes that AI should be used responsibly and ethically. The students would be prohibited from presenting the AI-generated work as their own. Academic integrity is expected, and staff members are permitted to use AI according to the district’s code of conduct. Administrators will not be permitted to use AI to generate employee evaluations.
Administrative Oversight and Future Adaptations
The policy has made it mandatory for the superintendent to regulate the use of AI and formulate better working by ensuring that policy remains in-tact with current technological advancements. Toni Jones, the district's superintendent, acknowledged that the district already has regulations regarding AI use, which were last revised on July 2. The policy has an intentional balance in mind for the district by guiding them through the initial use of AI in their schools while creating a basis for ethics and integrity for 21st-century learning.
Ongoing Developments and Community Engagement
