Hedra Raises $32M to Bring AI Video Creation to Enterprise Marketers

Hedra, the AI video platform behind over 10 million lifelike videos, has raised $32 million in Series A funding to bring its advanced storytelling technology to enterprise marketers. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz’s a16z Infra, with continued backing from a16z Speedrun, Index Ventures, and Abstract. This brings Hedra’s total funding to $44 million.
For most businesses, video production remains expensive and slow, often costing thousands per minute and requiring weeks of work. Hedra’s platform changes that. Now, brands can create character-driven videos within minutes, thanks to AI-generated visuals and voice.
From Theatre Stage to Digital Characters
Hedra’s vision stems from the personal journey of its CEO, Michael Lingelbach, a former theatre actor turned AI founder. His belief is that characters form the emotional core of every story.
Character-3 is Hedra’s flagship AI model. It blends text, images, and audio to generate highly expressive, customizable digital characters. Whether users want a brand mascot, virtual spokesperson, or stylized animal, the tool delivers performances across full-body and close-up shots.
Hedra Studio turns this technology into an intuitive interface. With just a few clicks, users transform simple ideas into high-quality video content. Marketing teams can respond instantly to cultural moments, without sacrificing creative quality.

Built for the Demands of Modern Marketing
As consumer attention spans shrink and content demands grow, video storytelling is becoming essential. Hedra’s AI helps companies keep pace, providing a single solution for video, sound, and character generation.
Unlike point solutions focused on avatars, Hedra offers an integrated workflow. Teams can build digital personas with unique voices and personalities and deploy them into dynamic scenes — cutting production timelines while boosting originality.
Poised for Growth
Since its 2024 launch, Hedra has gained traction across industries. Creators like Jon LaJoie and business leaders like Reid Hoffman are among its early adopters. With just 20 employees today, the company plans to triple its headcount by the end of the year.
As generative AI evolves, Hedra aims to be the creative canvas for brands, marketers, and content creators worldwide—making professional video creation as accessible as writing a tweet.
