Herbert Smith Freehills Unveils AI Tracker to Navigate Global AI Regulation
Herbert Smith Freehills launches the HSF AI Tracker, helping legal teams monitor global AI regulations and policy shifts in real-time.

International law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has developed a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool that will support its clients by providing an overview of recent AI policies and regulations. The tool called the HSF AI Tracker is an online resource which HSF hopes will cut through the growing complexity and fragmentation thrown up by the development and advancement of AI frameworks.

Responding to Global Regulatory Complexity

The AI tracking was created to help follow regulatory movements in different territories. The plan was to initially include 12 regions, from the UK, Australia and countries across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The device also aims to keep people informed on important AI standards, policy changes, and legislation.

The plan is to expand the overall coverage of jurisdiction. The tracker is used to track the updates on case law and court decisions that are used to reshape the interpretations that are already there and establish newer ones.

Supporting Legal and Compliance Teams

The Director of Emerging Technology Advisory and Legal operations Advisory at HSF, Mr. Alexander Amato-Cravero, said, “Effective AI risk management demands that organizations understand and monitor changes in the laws and regulations that apply to them.

He added, “The rapid pace at which AI policy is evolving, combined with increasing fragmentation between approaches taken by policymakers worldwide, makes this extremely challenging for businesses with multinational footprints. Our aim is to simplify the process, helping those in legal, risk, and compliance teams to cut through the noise and quickly identify key AI policy and regulatory information across key jurisdictions.”

One of the key advantages of the tool is that it is freely accessible and primarily targets legal, risk, and compliance professionals who must work by emerging and existing laws affecting AI systems.

AI tracker can be said to be a reliable one as it has been piloted over 5,500 times across various industries and sectors.
