India's AI Startup Landscape Propelling Change Across Major Industries: Envoy
India's AI startup ecosystem, with over 4,000 companies, is driving innovation in healthcare, agriculture, and clean energy, says Consul General Pratik Mathur.

According to Pratik Mathur, India’s Consul General in Shanghai, the nation’s thriving artificial intelligence (AI) startup scene is leading changes in various vital sectors, such as urban planning, healthcare, renewable energy, and agriculture.

Addressing the yearly technology symposium of the Singapore Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai—among the oldest and most significant business gatherings in the region—Mathur emphasized India's rise as the fastest-growing economy globally, bolstered by a vibrant AI ecosystem with more than 4,000 startups.

"Mathur stated, 'India's vision is ambitious,' referring to the government's strategic investment of USD 3 billion in AI infrastructure." This dedication is supported by efforts such as the National Quantum Mission and the creation of 25 AI Centres of Excellence, which are boosting progress in areas like agriculture, cleantech, and space technology.

Mathur also emphasized the “AI for All” initiative, designed to guarantee that AI technologies serve every citizen while maintaining the country's linguistic diversity and fostering the growth of smart cities.
