LG CNS, Skild AI Partner to Build Industrial Humanoids

In a bid to further industrial automation, LG CNS, a top IT solutions company within the LG Group, has signed an agreement with US robotics company Skild AI. The aim is to create advanced industrial humanoid robot technologies, a move that heralds the potential to transform industries such as manufacturing and logistics. The agreement further comprises investment by LG Technology Ventures, the corporate venture capital division of LG Group.
Unleashing AI to Power Autonomous Industrial Robots
Skild AI, founded by Carnegie Mellon University professors Deepak Pathak and Abhinav Gupta, is known for its Robot Foundation Model (RFM), which acts as the AI-powered "brain" for robots. The RFM allows robots to make independent choices by learning from a diverse set of data types, such as images, text, audio, and video. The core technology will be leveraged across a wide variety of robotic platforms, humanoid and non-humanoid, providing immense potential for industrial automation.

Expanding Applications to Industry and Urban Environments
With this collaboration, LG CNS aims to develop sophisticated humanoid robot solutions intended for industrial use such as assembly, facility inspection, and logistics activities. The robots will automate operations in manufacturing, increasing efficiency and accuracy. Aside from industrial usage, LG CNS also aims to widen the deployment of these robots to urban spaces, targeting applications such as senior care and patrol services. The integrated robotics service will combine Skild AI’s RFM, LG CNS’s robot control platform, and hardware developed with manufacturing partners to offer comprehensive automation solutions. This initiative is poised to position LG CNS as a leading provider in intelligent AI robotics, driving smarter operations across multiple industries.
