Meta Launches Dedicated Meta AI App

Meta AI, first launched in September 2023, was previously available only within WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook. But the company has now rolled out a dedicated app to broaden its usage and offer a more focused experience. Its competitors, such as Grok and ChatGPT, already have dedicated applications with millions of downloads.
With this new app, Meta aims to deliver personalized and context-aware interactions. This is made possible by integrating information from users’ linked Facebook and Instagram accounts. The app also supports Meta’s smart glasses, further enhancing accessibility.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is steering the company toward becoming a serious contender in the AI space. This launch mirrors similar moves by rivals like OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft. All these companies have their own dedicated AI assistant tools.

Powered by Meta’s Latest AI Model
Meta AI is built on Llama 4, the latest large language model developed by Meta. Llama 4 boasts improved reasoning, efficiency, and multilingual support. The model was designed to compete directly with other advanced models such as GPT-4, Gemini, and Claude.
By embedding Llama 4 into the standalone app, Meta ensures that users can experience faster and more intelligent responses. The assistant is expected to evolve with future updates, possibly offering even smarter interactions.
Subscriptions and the Road Ahead
Starting in Q2, Meta will test a paid subscription plan for access to advanced features of Meta AI. But, meaningful revenue from this service is not expected until next year.
Meta is also hosting LlamaCon, its first developer event focused on its AI models. This signifies the seriousness of Meta towards the AI space and carving a name for itself in that domain.
