Microsoft Bing Launches AI Video Creator Powered by OpenAI's Sora

Microsoft has introduced a powerful new feature to its Bing search engine—an AI-driven video generation tool called Bing Video Creator. This innovative tool is powered by OpenAI’s Sora model and enables users to generate short, high-quality video clips simply by entering text prompts. Designed to make content creation faster and more accessible, Bing Video Creator is now available on the Bing mobile app, with a broader rollout planned soon for desktop users and Copilot Search integration. This marks another step in Microsoft's strategy to bring cutting-edge generative AI capabilities directly to everyday search experiences.
Sora’s Controversial Start and Bing Integration
Part of Microsoft’s AI push involves Sora, OpenAI’s video generation tool, which had a turbulent launch. YouTube’s CEO criticized Sora for reportedly training on its videos, and some early testers voiced ethical concerns. Despite the backlash, Sora launched widely late last year.
Now, Microsoft is integrating Sora into Bing Video Creator—a move that makes the tool freely accessible to users with a Microsoft account, bypassing OpenAI’s paywall restrictions. This is the first time Sora’s capabilities are available for free through a Microsoft product.

Free Video Creation on Bing—With Limits
The Bing Video Creator enables users to create up to 10 free AI-generated videos. Beyond that, videos cost 100 Microsoft Rewards points each—points earned through Bing searches or Microsoft Store purchases.
Currently, users can queue up to three videos at once, each limited to five seconds in a vertical 9:16 aspect ratio. While innovative, the tool is still in early stages, with video generation often taking hours, even in “fast” mode.
