MinIO Introduces AIStor with S3 Express API Support, Revolutionizing AI and Analytics Storage
MinIO, the leading provider of high-performance object storage, has unveiled AIStor, the first AI data storage platform to support Amazon's S3 Express API.
This new integration allows organizations to leverage Amazon’s high-performance, developer-friendly S3 Express API for all AI and data-intensive analytics workloads, enabling enterprises to place all their analytical and AI data in "express mode" without additional costs.

The S3 Express API, introduced by AWS in 2023, has been a game-changer for AI and analytics storage, delivering up to 10x faster performance than the standard S3 storage class.
However, in AWS, the S3 Express API comes at a premium cost with limited data protection and replication capabilities. Traditionally, it has been used only for high-speed access data, leaving customers to manage a durable copy of data in the standard S3 storage class.
With MinIO AIStor, this performance is now available to enterprises at no additional cost, with full active/passive disaster recovery (DR), batch replication, and data protection features integrated into the platform.
This allows organizations to use the S3 Express API for all their analytical and AI data—accelerating AI data pre-processing, model training, inference, and large-scale data lakehouse analytics.

The integration of AIStor S3 Express API helps streamline processes by accelerating PUT and LIST operations (up to 447% faster time-to-first-byte for LIST operations).
This improvement translates into faster AI model training, quick data analytics, and better overall infrastructure utilization. Additionally, the atomic, exclusive append operationsfeature allows for direct and safe object modification, eliminating the need for multi-step update workflows, particularly useful in media applications like video streaming.
