Minus Zero Unveils India’s First Vision-Based End-to-End Autopilot System
Minus Zero debuts India’s first camera-only, vision-based autopilot system, trained to navigate chaotic traffic conditions on real-world Indian roads.

Bengaluru-based autonomous mobility startup Minus Zero has introduced a groundbreaking end-to-end autopilot system tailored for Indian roads. Designed using a vision-first approach, the system has been successfully tested on the dense and unpredictable streets of Bengaluru.

Unlike traditional rule-based driving systems, Minus Zero’s platform uses foundational AI models that learn in a self-supervised manner. This enables the system to process real-world scenarios using raw video data, without requiring human-labeled datasets.

Vision-Based AI Tackles Real-World Traffic Challenges

The new system relies solely on camera inputs, eliminating the need for HD maps. It can identify and respond to unique road obstacles such as animals, push-carts, and erratic two-wheelers. This allows it to navigate urban traffic with high complexity—something that has historically challenged even the most advanced autonomous systems.

What makes this innovation particularly noteworthy is its localization. While most autonomous driving systems are optimized for structured environments in developed nations, Minus Zero is building technology for the far more chaotic traffic seen in emerging markets like India.

A Technology Designed for Emerging Market Needs

Although nearly 90% of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) are deployed in developed nations, over 85% of global road accidents happen in emerging countries. This mismatch highlights the urgency for developing locally relevant driving solutions—an area where Minus Zero aims to lead.

The company’s focus lies not only in innovation but also in practical deployment. It is already collaborating with multiple OEMs to integrate the new system into their vehicles. Full-scale production is targeted within the next two years.

Founded in 2020, Minus Zero has secured $1.77 million in equity funding across two rounds. The company’s mission is to make autonomous mobility more accessible, relevant, and safe for complex road environments, starting with India.
