Nvidia & Perplexity Boost AI Models in Europe, Middle East
Nvidia and Perplexity collaborate to advance AI models tailored for Europe and the Middle East, enhancing local language capabilities and business applications.

In a significant move to strengthen AI capabilities across Europe and the Middle East, Nvidia and artificial intelligence search firm Perplexity announced a strategic partnership on Wednesday. The collaboration will see both companies work with over a dozen AI firms in countries like France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Sweden to refine local AI technologies and distribute them to businesses in these regions. The focus will be on creating AI models tailored to local languages and cultures, ultimately enhancing their ability to handle more complex tasks through reasoning.

Synthetic Data Generation to Overcome Language Barriers

As AI models primarily built in English and Chinese have begun incorporating reasoning capabilities, the transition to other languages, especially those with limited training data, has posed a significant challenge. Nvidia, a leader in AI hardware and software, will play a crucial role in helping these European firms generate synthetic data in local languages. Kari Briski, Vice President of Generative AI Software for Enterprise at Nvidia, emphasized that this initiative aims to improve AI models in low-resource languages. "Europe needs strong models that reflect each nation's unique language and culture," she said. By generating more data and translating reasoning models into local languages, the companies aim to make these AI models more versatile and functional.

Perplexity to Help Distribute Refined AI Models Across Europe

Once the AI models are trained, Perplexity will focus on distributing them across Europe, enabling businesses to run them in local data centers and utilize them for tasks such as research and data analysis. The partnership has already shown promising results, with Germany emerging as Perplexity’s second-largest market. Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, highlighted the future of AI, where models could complete hours of work in a single prompt, further boosting business efficiency. This partnership marks a critical step in expanding AI’s reach and capabilities in diverse markets.
