OpenAI has launched its educational platform, OpenAI Academy India, in partnership with the IndiaAI Mission, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. AI Learning for All
The academy’s offerings will include both digital and in-person learning options, starting with English and Hindi, with plans to incorporate more regional languages. The goal is to provide cutting-edge AI learning, training both public and private sector innovators on how to leverage the latest AI tools. Kwon stressed that this initiative would help India stay at the forefront of global AI innovation.
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, acknowledged India’s importance, stating that the country has emerged as OpenAI's second-largest market. The initiative aligns with OpenAI's vision of democratizing knowledge and technology, enabling developers, researchers, and startups to scale their AI innovations more effectively.
Expanding AI Access Through Grants
In addition to the academe launch, OpenAI has blazoned subventions worth$ 150,000 for Indian non-profits working in sectors similar as healthcare, education, husbandry, and gender equity. This follows OpenAI’s continued expansion of its ‘AI for Impact Accelerator’ in India, which aims to support associations using AI for social good by furnishing API credits and specialized coffers.
The launch of OpenAI Academy marks a significant step in OpenAI’s ongoing commitment to enhancing AI education and empowering India's growing tech community.
