Otus Forms AI Advisory Board to Align Educational Tools with Teacher Needs
Otus forms an AI Advisory Board with K–12 educators to shape classroom-ready, ethical AI tools that meet real teaching needs.

Ed-tech company Otus has set up an AI Advisory Board with teachers from more than 20 school districts across 11 states in the US. The objective is to ensure that the AI-driven tools of Otus are being designed to address the real-life needs of teachers and administrators in K–12 education.

Grounding AI Development in Classroom Reality

The group includes representatives of a variety of teaching professionals, including classroom teachers, principals, instructional technology specialists, as well as district administrators from urban/suburban/rural contexts. The members meet monthly and provide feedback on AI features and advise Otus on how to responsibly and effectively design artificial intelligence into its platform.

Chris Hull, president of Otus and one of its co-founders, said the goal of the AI Advisory Board is to make sure the platform’s AI features benefit schools. “AI holds incredible potential for K-12 education, but it’s essential we get it right,” Hull said in a public statement. “Educators should have a seat at the table when it comes to shaping how AI is used in schools. By establishing our AI Advisory Board, we are creating a space to listen to and learn from educators — ensuring our innovations align with the real needs of those we serve.”

A Model for AI Integration

Otus was established in 2013 by middle school teachers and has become a complete platform integrating student assessment data to monitor progress and drive instruction. With 200 districts as clients impacting more than a million students, Otus is all about using technology to promote higher education standards. The setting up of the AI Advisory Board shows the extent of the company's effort to tidy up AI tools to align with the real-life challenges and needs of the educators.

Collaborative efforts of the board are expected to be key stakeholders in shaping the future of AI in education, ensuring that Otus's tools leverage advanced technology while keeping one foot in the real practical delivery of the classroom.

Through direct input from the frontline of education, Otus wants to ensure developed AI responds to practice and is moral, serving to build an environment where technology enhances rather than detracts from the human aspects of teaching and learning.
