Polar & Crusoe Launch 12MW Sustainable AI Data Center in Norway
Polar and Crusoe collaborate to launch Norway’s renewable-powered DRA01 data center, advancing sustainable AI infrastructure in Europe.

Polar, a leader in high-density and sustainable data center infrastructure, has announced a significant milestone in its European expansion plans. The company has entered a strategic partnership with Crusoe, a prominent provider of AI infrastructure, to launch a new 12MW facility, DRA01, in Norway.

This facility, powered entirely by hydroelectric energy, will serve as a cutting-edge platform for delivering scalable AI solutions, supporting customers across Europe and beyond.

A New Standard in Sustainable AI Infrastructure

The partnership with Crusoe is a key step in Polar's mission to establish a new generation of sustainable data centers that cater to the rapidly growing demand for AI and high-performance computing (HPC).

The DRA01 facility, located in Norway, offers high-density, GPU-optimized configurations, enhanced energy efficiency, and state-of-the-art cooling technology, setting a new standard in both performance and environmental impact.

Andy Hayes, CEO of Polar, said, “This collaboration with Crusoe reflects what Polar does best, delivering world-class sustainable infrastructure. We are proud to power Crusoe’s expansion in Europe and look forward to supporting their continual growth with efficient, resilient and renewable-powered data centers.”

Renewable-Powered and Scalable Infrastructure

Polar’s Norwegian data center is optimized for GPU workloads, with advanced liquid cooling systems and high-density rack configurations capable of supporting up to 115kW per rack. This ensures that the facility can efficiently host the demanding AI workloads of Crusoe’s customers while minimizing environmental impact through the use of renewable hydroelectric power.

The facility will begin operations later this year, with the capacity to scale up to 52MW, providing Crusoe the flexibility to grow alongside the increasing demand for AI applications. By leveraging Norway's abundant and clean hydroelectric energy, Crusoe can deliver AI services with high performance, all while meeting its environmental responsibility goals.

Polar’s Growing Footprint in Europe

This partnership is part of Polar's broader efforts to expand its footprint across Europe, with development projects underway in several key markets. As the demand for AI and high-performance computing grows, Polar is positioning itself to meet the needs of enterprises, researchers, and innovators in a sustainable way.

Polar's focus on providing environmentally responsible, high-performance data centers ensures that companies like Crusoe can scale their AI capabilities while minimizing their carbon footprint. The DRA01 facility is a perfect example of how next-generation infrastructure can support the growing need for AI workloads without compromising on sustainability.
