RackBank to Construct First AI Datacentre Park in Raipur, Chhattisgarh
RackBank, datacenter infrastructure provider has unveiled the construction of a cutting-edge AI Datacenter Park in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, that will be the region's first facility of this type, according to The Times of India.
The new AI-oriented datacentre park was commissioned by the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The scheme is in line with India's larger AI vision, with the country's government seeking to position the nation at the forefront of the AI revolution globally.
Project Overview and Investment Plans
During the initial stage of development, RackBank aims to establish an 80MW facility spread over 13.5 acres of land accommodating 100,000 GPUs at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore as an initial investment.
The company plans to continue investing in the form of subsequent phases, and in all, it will contribute Rs 3,000 crore to the project. Expansion in the future will enhance the capacity of the AI facility with flexible rack ddensity options between 80 kW and 200 kW per rack.
Job Creation and Economic Growth
The AI Datacenter Park is poised to generate huge job opportunities in Chhattisgarh, with RackBank looking to employ 200 individuals in the next five years, with scope for expansion to 500 employees as the business scales.
The construction is also seen to unlock growth potential across mainstream sectors including healthcare, education, agritech, and others, driving the local economy and infusing digital infrastructure.
According to the Times of India, AI datacenters are known for their high resource consumption, particularly in terms of power and cooling. To address these challenges, RackBank's AI Datacenter in Raipur will use innovative direct-to-chip cooling alongside its proprietary Varuna liquid immersion cooling technology.
This cooling system significantly optimizes power usage and enhances energy efficiency, reducing cooling costs by up to 70% compared to traditional methods.

Future Plans and Expansion
In addition to the Raipur facility, RackBank has earmarked 2.70 hectares of land in the Chhattisgarh SEZ to deliver high-quality, cost-effective AI services. This expansion follows the company's previous successful launch of an 80MW AI datacenter in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, in October 2024.
