Saudi Arabia Unveils HUMAIN to Lead Global AI Ambitions

Saudi Arabia has launched HUMAIN, a new artificial intelligence company fully owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF). The initiative was announced by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of PIF.
HUMAIN will serve as a unified operating company, investing across the entire AI value chain. The company’s operations will include building next-generation data centers, AI infrastructure, and cloud systems. It also plans to introduce one of the world’s most powerful multimodal Arabic large language models.
Driving AI Innovation on a Global Scale
The aim of the company is to advance and implement AI technologies not just in Saudi Arabia but to regional and global markets as well. HUMAIN's mission is to enhance human capabilities and facilitate economic growth by providing pragmatic AI-driven solutions.
It will deliver tools, products, and services that facilitate AI adoption in priority sectors including energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services. As a strategic initiative, HUMAIN will also facilitate data center development and hardware procurement initiatives.
In its launch, PIF highlighted Saudi Arabia's growing role as a digital hub. As a country at the intersection of three continents, Saudi Arabia possesses a logistical advantage when handling data. Coupled with a fast-growing economy and tech-literate youth population, Saudi Arabia stands to become a leader in AI innovation.
Supporting the National Vision for AI Leadership
HUMAIN’s launch aligns with PIF’s long-term digital strategy. The company is expected to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s global standing in AI by accelerating research, creating intellectual property, and attracting investment.
The Global AI Index 2024 ranked Saudi Arabia as the top country in terms of government AI strategy. That recognition reflects national efforts to build a competitive, innovation-driven AI ecosystem.
HUMAIN will help centralize the Kingdom's AI efforts while enabling new research and applications. The company will act as a key platform to meet national goals and shape the future of AI in the region and beyond.
