Sentra Secures $50M in Series B to Lead AI-Era Data Security

Sentra, the world leader in cloud-native data security platforms, has closed a $50 million Series B round of funding in success. It was led by Key1 Capital with additional support coming from Bessemer Venture Partners, Zeev Ventures, Standard Investments, and Munich Re Ventures. The new investment takes the overall amount of funding in Sentra to more than $100 million, after a 300% year-over-year revenue growth and a boost in Fortune 500 customers.
The investment arrives as the company extends its Cloud-Native Data Security Platform (DSP) with new AI-specific features to assist organizations in protecting sensitive information as they ramp up adoption of artificial intelligence.
Addressing the Growing Risk of Shadow Data and AI Exposure
With rapid cloud migration and AI integration, businesses face escalating risks from unmonitored, unstructured “shadow” data. This data sprawl creates blind spots and increases vulnerabilities to exposure, AI-generated threats, and regulatory non-compliance.
According to Gartner®, the growth of Generative AI (GenAI) will trigger a spike in cybersecurity spending. It projects that by 2025, GenAI will drive more than a 15% increase in application and data security costs. Sentra’s expanded platform and fresh capital aim to meet this growing demand with scalable, enterprise-grade solutions.

Danny Akerman, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Key1 Capital, noted that organizations were already overwhelmed trying to manage data across cloud and hybrid architectures. He explained that AI adoption has further amplified the complexity, regulatory pressure, and risk. Akerman added that Sentra stood out in its ability to deliver critical visibility and control across multi-cloud and AI-powered environments without compromising innovation.
Powered by Cybersecurity Veterans
Sentra’s leadership team comprises cybersecurity experts with deep roots in both military intelligence and enterprise technology. The company was founded by:
• Asaf Kochan, President and former Commander of Unit 8200
• Yoav Regev, CEO and ex-Head of Cyber at Unit 8200
• Ron Reiter, CTO and a seasoned cybersecurity entrepreneur
• Yair Cohen, VP of Product with prior roles at Microsoft and Datadog
The team’s experience drives Sentra’s mission to redefine enterprise data security. Recently, Sentra was recognized as a “Leader” and “Fast Mover” in the GigaOm Radar for Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), further validating its market leadership.
Expanding a Platform Designed for AI and Multi-Cloud Security
Sentra’s platform goes beyond traditional infrastructure-based solutions by enabling comprehensive data protection across multi-cloud and AI environments. It scans data within the customer’s environment, maintaining data sovereignty and reducing operational costs. The system’s AI-powered classification engine achieves over 95% accuracy, adapting to business-specific contexts using large language models (LLMs).
Sentra’s CEO, Yoav Regev, emphasized that enterprises are eager to adopt AI but remain highly concerned about the risk of exposing sensitive data. He explained that Sentra’s platform helps organizations move quickly and securely, ensuring data protection at every stage of the AI lifecycle.
Building the Future of Data Security
With this investment, Sentra will expand its staff of data security professionals, continue to develop its platform, and meet the distinctive security issues raised by GenAI, AI assistants, and growing shadow data. The enhanced capabilities of the platform are designed to deliver greater visibility, sophisticated prevention tools, and automated compliance controls for cloud and on-premises environments.
