Shikho Secures Investment to Expand AI-Powered Learning

Shikho, one of Bangladesh’s leading edtech platforms, has received fresh investment from Startup Bangladesh Limited, the state-run venture capital initiative under the ICT Ministry. The funding aims to accelerate Shikho’s mission to scale its AI-based learning platform and broaden its reach across the country.
The announcement was made by ICT Secretary and Startup Bangladesh Chairman Shish Haider Chowdhury during a press event held at his Gulshan office on Wednesday. The investment forms part of an $8 million round recently raised by Shikho, though the exact contribution from the government-backed firm was not disclosed.
Driving innovation in local-language education
Built to align with the national curriculum and offered in Bengali, Shikho’s mobile-first learning platform uses artificial intelligence to personalise learning experiences. The platform has gained significant traction among students in both urban and underserved areas, offering accessible, modern educational tools at scale.

The support from Startup Bangladesh marks a significant milestone in Shikho’s journey. Rather than acting as a mere financial backer, the government’s involvement signals formal recognition of the role AI can play in reforming education across the country. With this partnership, Shikho is expected to deepen its impact and introduce new tools that adapt to each learner’s needs in real time.
A strategic push toward inclusive digital learning
The investment is also part of the government's broader push to digitise education and close the urban-rural learning gap. Startup Bangladesh's backing reflects an ongoing effort to promote inclusive innovation that aligns with national development goals. According to officials, Shikho’s focus on local-language content and AI-driven instruction supports this agenda effectively.
Investors Wasiqur Rahman, Kazi Zeeshan Rabeth Hasan, and Kazi Zahin Shahpar Hasan were present at the signing event, where they reiterated their commitment to making high-quality education more widely accessible.
As Shikho continues to scale its platform and develop new AI capabilities, the company is now better positioned to deliver on its vision of transforming how students learn throughout Bangladesh.
