Swedish Consortium Partners with NVIDIA to Build Largest AI Supercomputer in Sweden

A Swedish consortium of major companies such as Ericsson, AstraZeneca, SAAB, SEB, and Wallenberg Investment AB has unveiled plans to develop Sweden's largest AI supercomputer. Along with NVIDIA, the consortium will use top-of-the-line AI infrastructure that will enhance Sweden's AI strength and ensure sovereign compute access for partners in industry.
The project's first phase will involve installing two NVIDIA DGX SuperPODs with the latest-generation NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GB300 systems.
When completed, it will be the biggest enterprise AI supercomputer in Sweden that is optimized to support compute-intensive AI workloads. These systems will focus on accelerating processes such as training domain-specific AI models and enabling large-scale inference, including reasoning AI.
NVIDIA AI Technology Center to Drive Research
As part of the initiative, NVIDIA will establish its first AI Technology Center in Sweden. This facility will drive AI research in collaboration with the industry partners, further solidifying Sweden's position as a hub for AI innovation.
Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s founder and CEO, said, “AI has a key role to play in the network evolution with high-performance programmable and autonomous networks. AI and 5G are also critical in the future competitiveness of Sweden, and other countries, by driving innovation, enabling start-ups and delivering new use cases and capabilities.”
He added, “As a company that already invests heavily in AI research and development, Ericsson is looking forward to working with other leading Swedish companies and NVIDIA to ensure Sweden is at the forefront of AI development and benefits.”
Marcus Wallenberg, Chair of Wallenberg Investments, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of AI infrastructure for accelerating AI adoption across Sweden. He noted that the initiative would provide significant spillover effects by enabling upskilling, fostering new collaborations, and strengthening the national AI ecosystem.
