Tripura CM Launches AI-Powered Farm Mission to Boost Agricultural Productivity
Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha launches the AI-driven Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan to enhance crop yield, modernize farming, and double farmer incomes.

While talking at the Bishramganj portion of the state, the Chief Minister of Tripura, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, launched the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan and focused on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in order to improve agricultural productivity. This project is a part of the national Viksit Sankalp Yatra, and its goals are to make modern agricultural practices more understandable to farmers.

AI Integration for Smarter Farming

At the launch event, and as reported by India Today, C.M. Saha discussed the tremendous power of AI in the agro-sector. He referred to a case where the pineapple farmers were getting exact weather alerts through which they carried out the protection of the crop proactively and that of using drones for the purpose of monitoring pest infection in rubber plantations which resulted in the yield and quality improvement. This project, known as the Digital Krishi Mission, provides farmers with genetically specific seeds that suit their region and next to that it also aims to uplift the quality of agricultural produce.

Economic Growth and Infrastructure Development

The Chief Minister also pointed out the significant increase in the average monthly income of farmers. The income doubled from ₹6,580 in 2015–16 to ₹13,590 in 2025–26. The growth was regarded as significant due to various government initiatives. There was included in the disbursement of ₹848.64 crore under the PM Kisan Yojana and ₹446 crore for paddy production, and the investment of the disbursement of ₹848.64 crore under the PM Kisan Yojana and ₹446 crore for paddy production ₹303 crore to modernize 144 agricultural markets across the state to allow the farmers and sell their produce.

Commitment to Agricultural Advancement

Agricultural Advancement Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who was present at the event, also stated that the government's commitment is to make agriculture a key driver of Tripura's economic growth, which can only be done with technology. The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan has an aim to empower farmers with knowledge and great tools to adopt sustainable and technologically advanced farming practices, which also align with the broader vision of a developed India.
