UAE’s G42 Expands to the US Amid Deepening AI Investment Ties

UAE-based artificial intelligence company G42 is ramping up its presence in the United States, marking another significant step in the Emirates’ broader push to shape global AI development.

According to corporate filings cited by the Financial Times, G42 has established a US arm—G42 USA—which was incorporated in Delaware in January. The move underscores Abu Dhabi’s ambitions to become a key player in the international AI ecosystem by embedding itself more directly in the world’s largest tech economy.

Strategic Partnerships and State-Level Backing

The United Arab Emirates has aggressively developed relations with U.S. tech behemoths and invested heavily in all areas of AI infrastructure, semiconductors, and digital change. In March, the UAE revealed a $1.4 trillion framework deal across AI, energy, and cutting-edge manufacturing.

During the same week, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed, Abu Dhabi Deputy Ruler and National Security Adviser, sat down with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office, a diplomatic move that established the tone for a number of top-level bilateral tech agreements.

Strengthening Digital Alliances

Among those announcements was a new partnership between Microsoft and Core42, a subsidiary of G42, aimed at improving digital government services across the Emirates. The agreement builds on Microsoft’s $1.5 billion investment in G42 last year, highlighting growing confidence in the UAE’s AI capacity.

Meanwhile, G42’s US expansion allows more direct collaboration with American firms and institutions. This potentially helps navigate sensitive regulatory and geopolitical considerations that have recently complicated cross-border AI cooperation.

UAE’s Role in the Stargate Initiative

The Emirates’ influence in US-based AI efforts is also visible in the Stargate project—an AI supercluster joint venture involving OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle. MGX, a tech investment firm backed by Abu Dhabi, was among the project’s initial equity partners.

President Trump, since returning to office in January, has publicly welcomed the UAE’s investment push, frequently highlighting its role in energizing the U.S. tech and AI landscape.

A Calculated Expansion

With G42's official foray into the US market, the UAE seems to be further building a strategic partnership with American AI development and receiving increased operational leeway. The step is likely to make way for more investment, tech transfer, and co-development in one of the globe's most sophisticated centers of innovation.

As Washington and Abu Dhabi deepen AI and digital economy collaboration, G42's expansion into the US is a sign of the changing geopolitical significance of artificial intelligence—and the UAE's resolve to be at the forefront.
