Vercel Launches v0 AI Model for Web App Development, Expands Vibe Coding Capabilities

Vercel, the cloud platform known for its innovative web development tools, has released its first artificial intelligence model. Designed specifically for web application development, the new v0 AI model supports both front-end and back-end coding workflows. The launch extends Vercel’s vision of “vibe coding,” where developers interact with code using natural language.
The San Francisco-based platform-as-a-service (PaaS) provider has integrated the AI model into its v0 platform. It is now available in beta via an API, SDK, and AI Playground. The model, named v0-1.0-md, supports multimodal inputs, accepting both text and images. It is also compatible with OpenAI’s Chat Completions API.
Specialized for Web Development Workflows
The v0 AI model is tailored for tasks across modern web development stacks, including frameworks like Next.js. It assists developers by generating code, identifying bugs, and making inline suggestions to improve quality. The model performs framework-aware completions, enabling faster and more accurate results during the coding process.

Vercel has designed the model with high responsiveness in mind. It supports up to 1,28,000 tokens in context, with a 32,000-token output capacity. The model also features a daily usage cap of 200 messages. These specifications aim to support complex, ongoing development tasks without lag.
The pricing for v0-1.0-md is usage-based. Input tokens cost $3 per million, while output tokens are priced at $15 per million. Currently, the API is accessible only to developers with a Premium or Team subscription.
Vibe Coding Powers a New Developer Experience
Vibe coding continues to gain momentum in the developer community. The approach emphasizes strategy and creativity, allowing developers to guide the project while the AI handles execution. This workflow transforms the traditional coding process, letting humans focus on vision and verification while AI writes the actual code.
With the release of v0-1.0-md, Vercel strengthens its commitment to blending AI with developer productivity. The company aims to create tools that allow anyone building on the web to move faster, smarter, and with fewer technical barriers.
