YouTube to Incorporate Google's Veo 3 AI Tool in Shorts for Better Video Making

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced at the Cannes Lions festival that YouTube will include Google's new AI video generation model, Veo 3, in YouTube Shorts later this year. This addition follows the success of YouTube's Dream Screen feature, which already utilizes an older version of Veo to generate AI-based backgrounds. The Veo 3 upgrade promises to deliver enhanced capabilities for video production, allowing creators to create videos directly from text and image prompts, thereby opening up new creative horizons on the platform.

Mohan underlined the revolutionizing capability of AI in content creation, adding, "The possibilities with AI are limitless." The addition of Veo 3 will unlock new creative paths for YouTube Shorts creators, enabling them to explore various forms of content. YouTube Shorts has been a fast-growing product since it launched in 2021, and now sees more than 200 billion daily views. The new AI tool is designed to continue driving the platform's growth, making it a rival to TikTok and Instagram Reels.
The Future of Entertainment and Creativity
Mohan also emphasized the changing role of creators in entertainment, projecting that they will continue to push the envelope on content formats, merge genres, and enter business and ambassadorship roles. With human creativity amplified by AI technology, YouTube aims to be the platform where anyone with a story can make a living from it and make a lasting contribution to the world.
