Zoom Unveils Major AI Upgrade Across Workplace Suite
Zoom has rolled out a comprehensive update to its Workplace platform, introducing a series of new AI-powered features designed to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and meet the evolving needs of hybrid and AI-driven workforces.
Custom AI Companion for Enterprise Control
At the core of the upgrade is the new Custom AI Companion add-on. This feature enables organizations to build their own AI agents using Zoom AI Studio, a low-code, drag-and-drop tool.
It also supports integration with external AI agents via Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol and Google’s Agent to Agent Protocol. Priced at $12 per user per month, the tool offers a new level of customization and efficiency for businesses.
Smarter Task Management and Scheduling
Zoom is enhancing productivity with Zoom Tasks, which intelligently surfaces, manages, and assigns tasks across Zoom Mail, Chat, and Docs. Users can track and organize all action items in one place, while AI Companion provides suggestions and helps complete tasks. Additionally, AI can now automatically schedule meetings, propose agendas, and find ideal times for attendees across integrated calendars.
AI Voice Recorder and Improved Multilingual Chat
To support in-person meetings, Zoom will release a Voice Recorder feature in May. It transcribes, summarizes, and captures action items during real-world conversations. Meanwhile, Zoom Team Chat now features improved translation capabilities for eight languages using its proprietary small language model, supporting global teams more effectively.
The update introduces Custom Avatars for Zoom Clips, allowing users to generate video messages using AI-created versions of themselves. Avatars are protected with authenticity checks and watermarks.
Additionally, the new Bring Your Own Index (BYOI) feature connects AI Companion to external databases like Amazon Q Business, enabling faster access to enterprise knowledge during meetings.

Enhancements for Sales, Customer Service, and Frontline Teams
Zoom is also boosting its Revenue Accelerator with AI Playbooks and Deal Explorer, automating sales workflows and CRM updates. Zoom CX gains advanced workforce management tools, while Zoom Workplace for Frontline and Clinicians offer tailored features for shift-based and healthcare workers.
