AES and Meta Sign 650 MW Solar Deal to Power AI Data Centers

The AES Corporation, a global leader in clean energy solutions, has announced the signing of two long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Meta.
These agreements will provide 650 MW of solar energy to power Meta's data centers located within the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) market, furthering Meta’s ambitious sustainability goals.
Partnership to Drive Renewable Energy for AI Innovation
Andrés Gluski, President and CEO of AES, said, “AES is proud to partner with Meta to deliver reliable and affordable renewable energy that supports their data center growth and ambitious sustainability goals.”
He added, “By providing energy solutions that offer fast time-to-power and low-cost electricity, we continue to be the partner of choice for companies, like Meta, at the forefront of artificial intelligence innovation."

Economic and Environmental Benefits
Along with serving Meta's renewable energy requirements, the projects will bring enormous economic returns to the Texas and Kansas communities.
The developments will generate scores of construction jobs and provide millions of dollars in annual tax revenues, supporting local counties and schools. AES remains the largest US-based global power company, with 32.7 GW in operation, 12.3 GW of signed long-term PPAs in backlog, and 65 GW of pipeline.
The firm has secured 10.1 GW of contractual agreements with top-tier global hyperscalers, including 7.7 GW of long-term PPAs to develop renewable capacity to serve their data center power requirements.
This alliance further solidifies AES's position as a top global energy supplier to corporate clients, a status attested to by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) in its 2024 Corporate Energy Market Outlook, which placed AES as a leading supplier of clean energy to corporations for the third consecutive year.
