Based on insights from 24,000 online shoppers across 24 key markets, the report highlights several key trends. One of the most significant barriers to completing online purchases is the lack of preferred delivery options, with 77% of shoppers in the Asia Pacific abandoning their carts when their delivery preferences are not met. Additionally, social commerce is rapidly gaining ground, with 85% of consumers in the region expected to shop primarily through social media platforms by 2030, bypassing traditional retail websites. This shift highlights the increasing impact of social platforms on shaping the future of e-commerce.
AI’s Growing Role in Online Shopping
AI-driven shopping tools are gaining traction, with 81% of shoppers in the Asia Pacific seeking AI-powered features, such as virtual try-ons and voice search, to assist with their purchasing decisions. The demand for more imaginative shopping journeys is also reflected in the growing popularity of voice-enabled shopping, with nearly half of shoppers (47%) already making hands-free purchases. AI-powered shopping assistants and virtual try-ons are among the most sought-after features, as consumers increasingly expect a more personalized and seamless shopping experience. These innovations are setting new expectations for e-commerce, making AI an essential component of online retail strategies.
