Maharashtra to Utilize AI, AR/VR for Crowd and Traffic Management at 2027 Nashik Kumbh Mela

The Maharashtra government has announced its plan to incorporate cutting-edge technologies such as AI and AR/VR for the 2027 Nashik Kumbh Mela. The initiative aims to improve crowd and traffic management during the religious event, which attracts millions of devotees. To spearhead this project, a seven-member panel has been appointed to establish security and communication systems during the event. This development comes in response to previous crowd management challenges observed at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela this year.
Committee Formation and Technological Integration
The panel, led by the Director of Information Technology, will include experts from various departments, including the Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation and the Tourism Department. One of the key responsibilities of the committee is to explore the implementation of AI-driven systems for crowd control, traffic monitoring, and ensuring efficient communication during the event. Additionally, the panel will plan exhibitions utilizing AR/VR technology, providing an immersive experience for attendees.

The final report, which will outline the full technological plan, is expected to be submitted shortly.
