EdgeCortix Secures US Defense Innovation Unit Agreement to Enhance Edge AI for National Security

EdgeCortix, Inc., one of the global leaders in energy-efficient fabless edge Artificial Intelligence (AI), was selected by the US Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) with an Other Transaction (OT) deal.
With this achievement, EdgeCortix becomes the very first Japanese, as well as its American-owned subsidiary company, to gain an award from a prestigious award entity, attesting to the strong impact that this company now plays in developing emerging AI technology.
Enhancing US Department of Defense Capability
Awarded in February 2025, the OT deal authorizes the DIU to test and implement EdgeCortix's state-of-the-art AI hardware and software solutions in a range of US Department of Defense (DoD) applications.
These include key domains like AI-enabled vision, generative AI technologies, and mission optimization for defense missions. With this collaboration, EdgeCortix looks to improve the operating capability of military systems as well as national security.
A First for Japan in US Defense Innovation
Dr. Sakyasingha Dasgupta, CEO of EdgeCortix, said, “We are deeply honored to be the first Japanese company selected for a DIU contract, a testament to the innovative edge AI solutions our team has developed.”
He added, “This partnership not only validates our commitment to advancing energy-efficient AI technologies but also opens up transformative opportunities to contribute to critical global and national security challenges.”
Edge AI Advancements for Enhanced Mission Capabilities
Under this initiative, EdgeCortix will demonstrate how its solutions, including the SAKURA-II AI edge accelerator, can enhance mission capabilities for military personnel. The collaboration aligns with DIU’s Resource Optimized Compute program, which aims to advance AI and machine learning systems for faster processing and distribution of critical information.
These improvements will provide a strategic advantage across defense platforms, including air, space, sea, ground, and cyber platforms.
