Ericsson and M1 have partnered to commercially deploy the groundbreaking Ericsson Transport Automation Controller (ETAC), a cloud-native solution aimed at transforming the management and operation of transport networks.

By leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), ETAC automates and optimizes operations across microwave, IP, and optical transport networks. The solution enhances synchronization monitoring, service assurance, and advanced root cause analysis (RCA) capabilities, ensuring a more efficient network operation.

AI-Driven Insights for Proactive Network Management

The proof of concept for ETAC demonstrated its ability to identify sources of interference and improve network performance by providing AI-driven insights and automation. These capabilities enable M1 to make proactive, data-driven decisions, streamline operations, and optimize power consumption across its microwave links. These improvements align with M1’s sustainability objectives while boosting overall network efficiency.

Phase One Integration into M1’s Microwave Transport Network

Mr. Denis Seek, Chief Technical Officer of M1, “This marks a significant milestone in our digital transformation journey.”

He added, “By adopting intelligent automation, we are not only enhancing our network performance and reliability but also strengthening our commitment to sustainability and excellent customer experience.”

Following a successful trial, M1 is set to integrate the ETAC into its microwave transport network. This marks the beginning of a multi-phase plan to eventually expand the controller’s capabilities into M1’s IP transport network. The integration of ETAC further solidifies M1's position in advancing network excellence, providing enhanced performance and reliability.
