FlexGen and Rosendin Partner to Redefine Power Resilience for Data Centers with Battery Energy Storage Solutions
FlexGen and Rosendin unveil a next-gen battery energy storage system to replace traditional UPS systems, boosting resilience and sustainability for AI-era data centers.

FlexGen Power Systems LLC, a leader in battery energy storage solutions, has teamed up with Rosendin, the largest employee-owned electrical contracting company in the US, to introduce a cutting-edge approach to powering data centers.

The collaboration aims to replace traditFbeional uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems with a more sustainable and scalable Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solution, marking a significant step forward in decarbonizing the energy infrastructure for modern data centers.

Addressing the Growing Demand for AI and Hyperscale Computing

As the demand for data centers soars due to artificial intelligence (AI) and hyperscale computing, traditional power infrastructures are struggling to keep up. The new initiative, which integrates FlexGen's innovative energy management software and Rosendin’s BESSUPS design, aims to address these challenges while reducing costs and improving resilience.

The BESSUPS system combines Rosendin’s design and FlexGen’s technology to provide reliable, generator-free power, support grid demand with dispatchable energy, and reduce complexity and costs by operating outside data centers as part of medium-voltage infrastructure.

A Smarter, More Efficient Solution

Bill Mazzetti, Senior Vice President of Rosendin, said, “Data center developers are looking for scalable and flexible power solutions that don’t compromise on performance.”

He added, “With FlexGen’s Innovation Lab and our experience in building complex electrical systems, we’re positioned to validate a solution that helps our clients build faster, smarter, and with more confidence.”

Testing and Future Deployment

The companies are conducting real-world, grid-connected tests to validate key features of the system, including fast-response grid-forming PCS technology with waveform control, enhanced PCS firmware for seamless UPS replacement with BESS, and robust support for mission-critical data center operations that ensures resilient transitions between grid-connected and islanded modes.
