GridCARE Secures $13.5M to Unlock Power for AI Data Centers Using AI
GridCARE secures $13.5M to unlock hidden grid power for AI data centers, using generative AI to accelerate infrastructure deployment across the U.S.

GridCARE, a groundbreaking startup focused on solving one of the most pressing challenges in AI infrastructure, power availability has announced a successful $13.5 million Seed financing round led by Xora, a venture capital firm backed by Temasek. This funding will allow GridCARE to accelerate its mission of helping AI infrastructure developers access reliable, scalable power faster and at a lower cost.

AI's Growing Power Demand and GridCARE's Solution

The exponential rise of artificial intelligence is driving an unprecedented energy demand. AI's power requirements are projected to more than double by 2050, with data centers becoming the new energy consumers.

However, much of the existing grid capacity remains underutilized. GridCARE uses AI-driven solutions to identify and unlock this untapped capacity, cutting the time it takes for data centers to become operational, from the typical 5-7 years to just 6-12 months.

The company works directly with hyperscalers and AI data center developers, assisting them in identifying power-efficient sites and optimizing their energy resources. By leveraging advanced generative AI-based analysis, GridCARE can find hidden pockets of capacity within the existing grid, enabling rapid deployment of GPUs and CPUs in response to growing AI demands.

Strategic Alliances with Utilities

GridCARE is collaborating with major utilities like Portland General Electric and Pacific Gas & Electric, utilizing their existing infrastructure to the fullest. GridCARE maximizes grid capacity, not only speeding up AI data center power delivery but also generating financial returns for utilities, enhancing revenue streams and reducing the cost of electricity for all customers.

Larry Bekkedahl, Senior Vice President at Portland General Electric, said, “The rise of AI presents the biggest new electricity demand surge we’ve seen in decades.”

She added, “Collaborating with GridCARE and using advanced planning tools enables Portland General Electric to make more informed and faster decisions in bringing this critical infrastructure online with confidence.”

Backing from Leading Investors and Industry Experts

The $13.5 million Seed round was backed by notable investors, including Xora, Aina Climate AI Ventures, Sherpalo Ventures, and Breakthrough Energy Discovery, among others. GridCARE’s leadership team includes seasoned experts such as Amit Narayan, the CEO and founder, who previously founded AutoGrid, acquired by Schneider Electric. Narayan is joined by co-founders Ram Rajagopal, Liang Min, and Arun Majumdar, all of whom bring deep expertise in AI, energy systems, and sustainability.
