Huawei to Train 500,000 Youth in Asia-Pacific to Boost Digital Skills and ICT Growth

Huawei has announced an initiative to set the stage for empowering 500,000 young digital talents in the Asia Pacific region, in the coming 5 years. Their goal is to enhance a way to bridge the increasing gap of digital skills in the region. Huawei has been at the spearhead for initiating digital evolution in the Asia Pacific, and this new plan is also aiming to contribute to the development of the young population as well as the emerging economy.
To achieve this goal, Huawei has collaborated with more than 3,000 universities globally, which led to the establishment of Huawei ICT Academy. The collaboration proved to be a success and by the end of 2024, the academy had trained more than 1.3 million students. This initiative equipped the students with skills required to excel in the ICT industry.

Regional Initiatives and Collaborations
In Southeast Asia specifically, Huawei has introduced a vast number of programs to advance domestic digital capacities. In Thailand, the company has partnered with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, and the Ministry of Labor to train around 10,000 ICT professionals, 5,000 Cloud AI developers, and 2,000 green engineers by 2025.
In Indonesia, the initiative has been proved successful with Huawei’s initial target extending digital talent development initiatives to reach 100,000 individuals, aligning with Indonesia's Digital Vision 2045.
Huawei's ICT Competition 2024–2025 Global Final was a platform for all the students to showcase their expertise and growth in the digital sector. The competition serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their skills and gain recognition in the ICT field.

Huawei's initiatives also coherent with their goal of aligning with sustainability goals, with programs focusing on green technology and digital inclusivity. These efforts are to make sure that digital developments are accessible and affordable to all, irrespective of their regions.
