Kong Unveils AI Gateway 3.10 With Enhanced Security, RAG Pipelines, and PII Protection
Kong Inc. Unveils AI Gateway 3.10 with Enhanced Security, Data Governance, and Developer Productivity for Scalable AI Integration

Kong Inc., a leader in cloud API infrastructure, has launched a significant update to its AI Gateway product, adding advanced tools for security, data governance, and developer productivity. The newly released version 3.10 is designed to make generative and agentic AI applications more secure and production-ready, helping businesses scale AI integration while maintaining data compliance.

Advanced RAG Pipelines to Reduce LLM Hallucinations

Among the major new additions in AI Gateway 3.10 is support for automated Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines. They are specifically designed to address one of the challenges associated with Large Language Models (LLMs): hallucinations, whereby AI creates unreliable or fictional outputs.

By querying a vector database automatically and adding relevant, trusted information to AI requests, Kong's RAG Injector enhances the accuracy and reliability of content generated by LLMs. The AI Gateway serves as a security buffer, protecting the vector database and maintaining consistent data governance.

This is usually a complicated and time-consuming process for developers. This low-code/no-code process is simplified by Kong. AI Gateway 3.10 is able to create embeddings, fetch relevant data, and incorporate it into prompts without all the manual coding, hence increasing developer productivity and decreasing integration timelines.

Automated PII Sanitization for Multilingual Compliance

The latest release also introduces a new plugin for Personally Identifiable Information (PII) sanitization. This feature allows organizations to automatically protect and manage sensitive data, like passwords and user credentials, across more than 20 PII categories and in 12 different languages.

Unlike conventional redaction tools that obscure data, Kong AI Gateway 3.10 can optionally reintegrate sanitized information into the final response before delivering it to the user. This ensures that personalization and functionality are maintained without compromising security.

Platform owners can enforce these sanitization protocols globally, removing the need for developers to manually apply data protection to every application, enhancing both consistency and compliance.

Integration With Kong Konnect for Seamless API Management

Marco Palladino, CTO and Co-Founder, Kong Inc. said, "With this latest version of AI Gateway, we're equipping our customers with the tools necessary to implement Agentic AI securely and effectively, ensuring seamless integration without compromising user experience. Moreover, we're helping solve some of the biggest challenges with LLMs, such as cutting down on hallucinations and improving data security and governance."

Kong AI Gateway 3.10 is now part of the Kong Konnect platform, an API lifecycle solution that simplifies API management at scale. Konnect enables enterprises to treat APIs as strategic assets by offering built-in tools for governance, automation, and monetization.

By incorporating AI Gateway into Konnect, Kong empowers organizations to manage AI workloads, secure sensitive data, and optimize developer workflows, all from a unified platform.
