Laos to Study Green Energy-Powered AI Infrastructure & Special Zone

Laos' Ministry of Technology and Communications has announced plans to conduct a feasibility study for a groundbreaking project aimed at developing and delivering artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure services powered by green energy, as reported by Xinhuanet. The initiative will serve as a pilot project for an AI center, marking a significant step in Laos' ongoing efforts to harness technology for national development.
Development of an AI Special Economic Zone
The project aims to create an AI Special Economic Zone in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, covering an area of more than 150 hectares.
This zone will be designed to support the development of AI services while utilizing green energy sources, aligning with the Lao government's broader strategy of sustainable development and digital transformation.
Supporting Laos' Digital Transformation
This AI infrastructure initiative is part of Laos' ongoing digital transformation efforts, which are guided by a national strategy focused on building a digital economy and promoting the integration of technology into public administration and services.
