Pathway has announced the launch of a fully integrated drug reference and drug-drug interaction checker within its AI-powered medical knowledge platform.

This new feature enables clinicians to access comprehensive medication information for over 2,000 drugs and screen for interactions directly within the same platform they use for clinical guidance. This integration aims to enhance decision-making speed and accuracy in healthcare settings.

The new drug reference tool is powered by Pathway’s proprietary AI-first drug database, uniquely structured to support AI-native use. This design allows clinicians to access consistent and context-aware medication data across thousands of clinical scenarios.

The database is further complemented by trusted sources like the American Hospital Formulary Service (AHFS), a gold-standard reference widely used by healthcare professionals across the United States. This integration of AI and trusted data sources ensures that clinicians receive clinically relevant and responsible medication information directly within their workflow.

Improving Safety and Efficiency

Dr. Louis Mullie, Chief Medical Officer at Pathway, said, “Clinicians face constant time pressure and information overload.”

He added, “We built this to keep prescribing information within the flow of care. Medication errors affect over a million patients annually in the U.S., often due to incomplete information or workflow disruptions. By enabling instant access to full monographs and interaction guidance within the Pathway AI experience, we help clinicians make safer and faster decisions without disrupting their workflow.”

Pathway’s AI Leadership in Healthcare

This launch follows Pathway’s continued leadership at the intersection of AI and clinical decision support. In 2024, the platform became the first generative AI tool in medicine to offer continuing medical education (CME) credits for every question asked.

Additionally, in March 2025, Pathway introduced HIPAA-compliant access for Pathway Plus subscribers, enabling secure use of patient-specific data. Earlier this year, Pathway’s proprietary "Deep" model achieved the highest score ever recorded for any publicly available specialized medical AI.
